A great night in Tokyo starts with a simple question: what kind of evening do you actually enjoy? Cocktails and conversation, a dance floor full of energy, or a celebration with your own table? The right club depends on your music, your group and the mood you want to create.
I’m Renaud, founder of Japan BTO. I’ve lived in Tokyo since 2007 and worked as a bartender, VIP manager and nightlife promoter. I personally host my private nightlife tours, bringing together that experience and the relationships I’ve built with people working behind the bars, at the doors and inside the clubs.
My guest lists at Tokyo clubs
I have my own guest lists at T2 SHINJUKU, WARP SHINJUKU, ZEROTOKYO, CÉ LA VI Tokyo, 1 OAK Tokyo and other venues. If you have a particular club in mind, tell me your date, group size and preferred music. I can check the arrangements for that night and help you choose somewhere that fits.
Guest-list conditions depend on the venue and event. I confirm the applicable entry price, arrival requirements and any special conditions before you head out. A guest-list arrangement and a VIP table reservation are different things; a table and bottle service are discussed separately. Mentioning a club here does not mean every venue is included in one tour.
Five clubs, five different reasons to go
T2 SHINJUKU: a big dance floor and party energy
T2 SHINJUKU combines a large open dance floor, high ceilings and striking lighting near Shinjuku Station. It is an option I would consider for an energetic, EDM-oriented night, depending on the event. If your group wants to dance together and feel the scale of a big club, this is one to discuss.
WARP SHINJUKU: different moods in the heart of Kabukichō
WARP SHINJUKU has several spaces, from the main Universe floor with its circular lighting installation to more intimate rooms. Hip-hop and R&B feature in its programme alongside other styles. I look at the night’s line-up and open floors: the appeal is being able to find the atmosphere that suits your group within one venue.
ZEROTOKYO: make the music the main event
Inside Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, ZEROTOKYO brings together multiple underground spaces, Japanese and international DJs, and immersive sound and visuals. I would put it on the shortlist when the artists and dance floor are the reason for going out. Choose the event first: different line-ups can make for very different nights.
CÉ LA VI Tokyo: Shibuya views and a dressed-up evening
CÉ LA VI Tokyo occupies the upper floors of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya, with a Restaurant & Skybar and a Club Lounge. It offers a setting for a more dressed-up night, combining city views with a club programme. Tell me whether you want dinner, drinks or dancing so we arrange the right space and booking.
1 OAK Tokyo: international club style and VIP tables
1 OAK Tokyo, in the Azabu-Juban area, brings a New York-born nightlife identity to Tokyo, with guest artists and a strong focus on VIP tables. It is a candidate for a group celebration or a club-focused finish to the evening. I check the event and your preferred atmosphere before suggesting it.
These are different options, not a ranking. The most famous name is not automatically the best room for you on a particular night. My other guest lists and contacts also leave room for a different recommendation when your plans call for it.
What a local promoter adds to your night
A promoter works with venues and events, helping connect people with the right party. In my case, that role sits alongside VIP hospitality and private guiding. Those connections help me coordinate the practical details; listening to you helps me decide which ones are useful for your evening.
I want to know what you enjoy before discussing a table or a club. Do you love hip-hop, house or big party tracks? Would you rather meet people on the dance floor or stay together around a table? Is this a first night in Tokyo, a birthday, or simply an excuse to dress up and have fun? A few clear answers make a much better starting point than a list of fashionable names.

Start with a good drink, then build the energy
I like an evening that has a little progression. A relaxed first stop gives us time to talk, settle into Tokyo and decide what comes next. For a more elegant beginning, my guide to Tokyo jazz bars and cocktails includes Maduro, New York Bar and Bar High Five, each in a different part of the city.
Renaud’s insider tip: tell me one song you would love to hear and one thing you dislike on a night out. That says much more than “take us to the best club.” And if the first bar is exactly your mood, enjoy it. A good evening should have room for a second drink without becoming a race.
In Shinjuku, we can build a night around nearby bars and a club instead of spending it in taxis. For Shibuya or the Roppongi–Azabu area, I choose the earlier stops around the main venue. If you are still choosing a district, my Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi guide explains the different starting points.

Guest list, VIP table or private nightlife tour?
- Guest list: an arrangement for a particular venue and night, with its conditions confirmed in advance.
- VIP table: a separate reservation when your group wants its own base, seating and bottle service. We discuss the minimum spend, charges and what is included before confirming.
- Private nightlife tour: an evening I host personally, with the route and venues chosen around your group. Drinks, food, entry charges, transport and optional VIP arrangements are budgeted separately unless expressly included.
A table can make sense for a celebration or a group that wants to stay together. For two people who mainly want to dance, general admission may suit the evening perfectly. The useful question is what will make you comfortable and help you enjoy the night.

Plan your Tokyo night with me
Send me your preferred date, number of guests, music tastes, approximate budget and any club you already have in mind. Let me know about a birthday or special occasion too. I’ll check availability and discuss the guest-list or VIP options that fit your plans.
My private nightlife experiences are for guests aged 20 and over. Bring a valid physical photo ID, check the chosen venue’s dress code with me and plan your journey back to the hotel. Entry remains subject to the club’s checks and conditions, even with a guest-list arrangement.
For an evening we build together, explore my Tokyo VIP Private Nightlife Tour with a Local Insider. Prefer to ask about a particular guest list first? Send me your plans, and we’ll take it from there.
