Tokyo Private Tour Cost: What You Actually Pay
How much does a private tour of Tokyo cost? The useful answer starts with two separate figures: the price of your guide and what you choose to spend during the day. Knowing the difference makes it easier to compare tours and plan a day that suits your group.
At Japan BTO, a private walking tour for one or two adults starts at ¥32,400 for four hours when booked directly. The tour is for your own group, with a route adapted to your interests and pace.
Current private day tour prices
For one or two adults, the direct booking prices are:
4 hours — ¥32,400 per group 5 hours — ¥37,800 per group 6 hours — ¥45,000 per group 7 hours — ¥50,400 per group
These prices include the 10% direct booking discount. The total changes if you add guests; you can select your group size on the booking page to see the displayed price. The final details and availability are confirmed personally before payment.
Choosing a duration is about more than counting sights. Four hours can give you time to enjoy one or two connected areas. A longer tour leaves more room for a meal, questions, breaks and a contrast between different parts of Tokyo. Trying to cross the city repeatedly in a short visit usually means spending too much of your time in transit.
What should you budget for separately?
The guide’s fee does not mean that every expense during the tour is covered. Allow for your own local transport, meals and drinks, admission tickets where relevant, and personal purchases. The amount depends on the route you choose. A walk through neighbourhood streets with a simple lunch has a different budget from a day that includes paid attractions or a special meal.
Tell us if a particular museum, observation deck or restaurant matters to you. We can discuss whether it fits the time available and whether tickets or reservations should be arranged in advance.
Does the tour include a car or hotel pickup?
Our day tours are walking tours using Tokyo’s public transport. A car and transport fares are not included.
Meeting your guide at a hotel is included for eligible central Tokyo locations. We check this using your hotel’s exact address. If you are staying outside the covered area, we can agree on a central meeting point without an extra meetup charge. An outside-zone hotel meetup may be available for ¥10,000 per booking, subject to confirmation. This is your guide meeting you on foot, not a vehicle transfer.
How can you keep the day within your budget?
Start with the places and experiences that matter most to you. A well-paced visit to two areas can be more rewarding than rushing through five. Let us know your interests, walking pace, food preferences and any mobility needs when you send your request. Those details help us suggest a realistic route and flag likely extra costs before the day is confirmed.
The same principle applies when comparing quotes from different providers: check the duration, group size, transport arrangements, meeting point and what is included. A lower headline price is only useful when you understand what you will pay for separately.
What about a private night out?
A daytime tour and a nightlife experience need different budgets. Our private nightlife guide fee is ¥20,000 per group for an evening of approximately five hours. Drinks, food, venue charges and optional arrangements depend on the evening you choose and are separate. We discuss those plans with you before confirming them.
Before you book
Choose your duration and group size on our private Tokyo walking tours page to see the current displayed price. Send your preferred date and tell us what you would most like to experience. We then check guide availability and confirm the itinerary, meeting point and final price personally. There is no payment before confirmation.
A private tour should make your time in Tokyo feel easier and more rewarding. A clear price is part of that experience.
